5.5G coming, RF connector demand growth
5G-A(5G-Advanced) is based on the evolution and enhancement of 5G, and is expected to usher in the 5G-A era in 2024. Compared with 5G,5.5G (I. e. 5G-A) has the five characteristics of 10Gbps experience, full-scene Internet of Things, communication perception integration, L4 level automatic driving network and green ICT. 5.5G is expected to open 5G industry applications, promote traffic explosion, optimistic about the development opportunities of the three major operators, equipment manufacturers and 5G upstream components.
In June 2023, Huawei announced at the 2023MWC Shanghai exhibition that it would launch a full set of commercial 5.5G network equipment in 2024. On September 11, 2023, Huawei took the lead in completing all 5G-A functional test cases. We expect the first version of 5G-A R18 to be frozen in the first half of 2024, and the industry is expected to usher in the 5G-A era in 2024.
According to China Mobile's White Paper on 5G-Advanced New Capabilities and Industrial Development, the ten core technologies of 5G-A defined by China Mobile include: X-Layer cross-layer integration, communication perception integration, UDD time-frequency unified full duplex, space-world integration, extreme determination, eIoT cellular Internet of Things, AI self-intelligence network, wireless cloud network computing industry integration, intelligent relay, low carbon and energy saving. 5G-A will further enhance network capabilities, supporting downlink 10Gbps, uplink 1Gbps, broadband real-time interaction, millisecond-level interaction delay capabilities will activate the AR/VR industry and fully enable the meta-universe, bringing full-sensory interactive immersive experience to reality. 5G-A will also support the most comprehensive IoT capabilities, providing the strongest industry support for hundreds of billions of connections. Further, 5G-A will also support perception, high-precision positioning and other capabilities beyond the connection, a network of multi-purpose. Optimistic about 5G-A to drive the air space integration, industrial Internet, the integration of the broad demand, 5G-A is expected to drive the explosion of traffic, accelerate the upgrading of communication equipment. Base station board-to-board RF connectors are used for RF signal transmission between 5G base station AAU boards, and the demand for RF connectors is expected to grow with the increase in the number of base station channels.
